Circleville – In a joint effort aimed at ensuring road safety, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Circleville Police Department and the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, has announced plans for an OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) Checkpoint tonight. The checkpoint is scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Lancaster Pike within the City of Circleville.

Funded by federal grants, the purpose of the OVI checkpoint is twofold: to discourage individuals from driving under the influence and to apprehend those who disregard safety regulations by doing so.

To bolster enforcement efforts, saturation patrols will also be deployed to target OVI-related incidents, aiming to reduce the occurrence of alcohol-related injuries and fatal crashes on local roadways.

Authorities emphasize the importance of responsible decision-making, particularly regarding alcohol consumption. Individuals planning to drink are strongly urged to designate a sober driver or arrange alternative transportation in advance. The initiative seeks to prevent unnecessary tragedies resulting from impaired driving, underscoring the critical need for collective vigilance and responsible behavior on the roads.
