CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Police Department has officially welcomed a new four-legged officer to its ranks with the introduction of K9 Ozzy, the department’s newest drug-detection dog.
K9 Ozzy is an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois cross from Hungary, described by the department as having a strong work ethic and an even stronger drive to serve. The highly trained K9 was purchased using Opioid Settlement Funds, which are designated to support efforts aimed at combating drug abuse and related crimes in the community.
Ozzy successfully completed his training at the Ohio State Highway Patrol K9 Training Academy, where he learned advanced narcotics detection and patrol skills.
The new K9 will serve alongside his handler, K9 Officer Martin, assisting with drug investigations and helping protect the citizens of Circleville.
Police officials said Ozzy’s addition strengthens the department’s ongoing commitment to public safety and proactive drug enforcement.
The Circleville Police Department encouraged the community to join them in welcoming K9 Ozzy as the newest member of the department family.
