CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A house fire on Barnes Avenue was quickly brought under control Monday night thanks to the swift response of the Circleville Fire Department, preventing what officials say could have been a total loss.

Around 8:15 p.m. on November 24, crews were dispatched to the 300 block of Barnes Avenue for a report of a kitchen fire inside a residence. When firefighters arrived, flames were actively burning in the kitchen and beginning to spread into the attic.

Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, cutting off the fire’s advance and saving the majority of the home from extensive damage. No injuries were reported.

The occupants were displaced while the fire’s cause is investigated and insurance assessments are completed. The American Red Cross is expected to assist if needed.

Officials credited the quick response time and coordinated effort for preventing the fire from consuming the home.
