Circleville, Ohio (February 24, 2024) – Members of Cub Scout Pack 170 put their creativity and engineering skills to the test at their annual Pinewood Derby held on Saturday, February 24th, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Pinewood Derby is a longstanding tradition within the Cub Scouts, challenging participants to design and build miniature race cars from a provided block of wood and wheels. Using their imaginations and ingenuity, the scouts transformed these simple blocks into gravity-powered speedsters.

On race day, excitement filled the air as the scouts competed down a four-lane track, vying for the coveted titles of fastest car, best-designed car, and best jump/crash. The event provided a fun and engaging opportunity for the young scouts to showcase their hard work and sportsmanship.

Beyond the thrill of the race, the Pinewood Derby embodies the core values of scouting. The process of building the cars fosters valuable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. Additionally, the event strengthens the bond between scouts and their peers, building confidence and leadership qualities through friendly competition.

Cub Scout Pack 170 is an active group that welcomes young boys in kindergarten through fifth grade. They meet every Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church.
