CHILLICOTHE, OH — Chillicothe police officers were kept active throughout the day on Monday, July 7, responding to 17 separate incidents across the city, ranging from warrant arrests and protection order violations to counterfeit money and theft at Walmart.

The day began at 2:18 a.m., when officers served a warrant at a residence on North Paint Street. By late evening, two more warrant arrests had taken place — including one involving the Ohio State Highway Patrol, who transferred a female suspect with an active warrant to Chillicothe officers at U.S. 50 and Fry Drive. She was transported to Ross County Jail for her court appearance.

Key Incidents of the Day:

  • Counterfeit Currency: A counterfeit bill was discovered in a deposit drop box at Kingston National Bank on Western Avenue. Officers are investigating the origin of the bill as part of a criminal simulation case.
  • Walmart Theft: Around 4:05 p.m., officers responded to Walmart on River Trace Lane for a theft in progress. The incident led to an ongoing investigation involving criminal trespass, theft without consent, and a warrant.
  • Protection Order Violation: A report of a protection order violation was filed near Lincoln Park, prompting an active investigation.
  • Traffic Enforcement: Officers made several traffic stops, including one on 2nd Street near Bridge Street, which resulted in charges for fictitious plates, unobstructed plate violations, and driving under suspension.
  • Accident Report: A vehicle accident occurred on Western Avenue in the late morning, though no major injuries were reported.
  • Custody Dispute & Welfare Checks: Officers also handled a custody dispute on East Water Street, a welfare check on West 5th Street, and a threats complaint on Delaware Drive — all of which are still under investigation.
  • Stolen Phone & Trespassing: Additional non-criminal investigations included a stolen phone report on West 2nd Street and trespassing complaints on East 7th Street and River Trace Lane.

The Chillicothe Police Department continues to follow up on several open investigations from the day and encourages anyone with information related to these incidents to contact their office.
