CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police are investigating an unprovoked assault after a visitor was struck in the face outside a Park Street residence late Sunday evening.
Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department responded to 142 Park St. at approximately 9:34 p.m. on August 23, 2026, following a report of an assault that had just occurred.
According to police reports, Nicole Barker was visiting the home when she and another occupant, Sheridan Seymour, heard noises at the rear of the property, possibly someone tapping on a back window. Seymour told police he believed a suspect may have been attempting to steal a bicycle from the backyard and was checking if anyone was home.
When Barker stepped outside the front door and walked toward the rear of the house to investigate, she encountered an unknown man in the narrow walkway separating 142 and 138 Park St. After asking the man to identify himself, the suspect struck Barker in the face with an open palm and fled down the alley toward North High Street.
Responding officers noted that Barker suffered a fresh cut to the left side of her lip. Photos were taken of her injuries, but she declined medical treatment at the scene.
Suspect Description
- Physical Appearance: Approximately 6 feet tall with a muscular build
- Facial Features: Facial hair trimmed into a chinstrap, pierced nose
- Tattoos: A snake tattoo on the left side of his neck
- Clothing: Gray hooded sweatshirt
Multiple officers searched the surrounding area, but no individuals matching the description were located. Police noted there were no known security cameras in the immediate area that captured the incident.
