
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police officers responded to a wide range of calls across the city on Friday, Dec. 19, according to the department’s daily media report, which documents 16 separate incidents over a 24-hour period.
Among the more serious calls, officers were dispatched shortly before 3 a.m. to a hotel on North Plaza Boulevard after reports of a male making suicidal threats. The individual was also cited for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. The investigation in that case is ongoing.
Later in the morning, police responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle on Vine Street. Details surrounding the theft were limited in the initial report, and the case remains under investigation.
Several theft-related incidents were reported throughout the day, including complaints on Adams Avenue, Belleview Avenue, and North Bridge Street. One case involved an alleged theft by deception connected to a shoplifting incident near Central Center. Officers noted that investigations are pending in multiple theft cases.
Police also handled several traffic-related incidents, including failure to control and weaving violations, as well as a crash on Vine Street involving a driver with a suspended license. No serious injuries were reported in those incidents.
In the afternoon, officers responded to a medical call on Maderia Avenue that was later classified as a non-suspicious death. Additional non-criminal calls included an open 911 line on South Brownell Street and a standby order on Tomahawk Drive.
Disorderly conduct calls were reported at a fast-food restaurant on East Main Street and later in the evening at Sherman Park, where officers responded to a possible assault. A report was taken in that case.
Several arrests were made throughout the day in connection with outstanding warrants. One individual, identified as Cody Quincel, was taken into custody at the county line and transported to the Ross County Jail on a failure-to-appear warrant related to driving under suspension.
Chillicothe police say many of the cases remain under investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
