
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department (CPD) released its daily media report on Thursday, detailing a busy 24 hours for local law enforcement. On May 20, officers responded to a wide range of emergency calls, including three separate reports of missing juveniles, multiple warrant executions, and a fatal medical incident at a local motel.
In total, the department logged 18 records over the course of the day. Here are the prominent incidents currently under investigation:
Spate of Missing Juvenile Reports
Chillicothe police officers were dispatched to three separate locations on Wednesday regarding missing minors, all of which remain under active investigation:
- Mill Street: Just after 11:00 a.m., an officer met with Children Services (CPS) personnel at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) regarding a juvenile reported missing from the 560 block of Mill Street.
- Scioto Avenue: At 2:37 p.m., police responded to the 209 block of Scioto Avenue following a report of an unruly child and a missing juvenile.
- East 7th Street: Later that evening, at 10:18 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 327 block of East 7th Street on another missing juvenile complaint.
Additionally, police responded to a separate report of a “possible missing person” in the area of Laurel Street just past 10:00 a.m.
Non-Suspicious Death at Local Motel
At 3:48 p.m., emergency personnel and police units were dispatched to the America’s Best Value Inn, located at 1135 E. Main Street, in response to a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officials confirmed a fatality. While police note that the death is currently classified as non-suspicious, the investigation remains open.
Property and Fraud Crimes
Property and financial crimes kept officers moving throughout the afternoon:
- Theft on Arch Street: A larceny complaint was filed at 11:30 a.m. on Arch Street.
- Identity Fraud: At 1:46 p.m., an officer took an identity fraud complaint from a resident in the 537 block of Parsons Avenue.
- Trespassing Issues: Police responded to two separate trespassing complaints on East Main Street—one at 5:40 a.m. in the 1111 block, and a second at 2:56 p.m. in the 260 block.
Traffic Enforcement & Warrants
Traffic units handled a non-injury car accident at 6:38 p.m. on East Water Street near Paint Street. According to the report, a citation was issued for Failure to Maintain Assured Clear Distance Ahead (ACDA). Shortly before that crash, another driver in the same area was investigated for Failure to Control/Weaving and Driving Under Suspension (DUS).
On the enforcement front, Chillicothe officers served multiple warrants at the Law Enforcement Center. Local authorities also traveled to the Fayette County Jail at 12:23 p.m. to take custody of a wanted individual holding an active Chillicothe warrant.
