WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced today that the Community Action Committee of Pike County will receive a grant to bolster their existing small business loan programs. This funding, awarded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program, aims to empower local businesses and foster economic growth in the region.

“Small businesses are the backbone of Ohio’s economy, creating jobs and contributing significantly to our communities,” Senator Brown emphasized. “This grant ensures they have the necessary resources to thrive, propelling their growth and success.”

Brown, the first Ohio Senator on the Senate Agriculture Committee in over five decades, played a key role in the 2018 Farm Bill, which reauthorized the Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program. This program offers crucial financial support to small businesses in rural areas, fostering economic development and job creation.

The Community Action Committee of Pike County will utilize the grant to provide technical assistance for their existing revolving loan funds. These funds offer financial resources to entrepreneurs, enabling them to launch or expand their businesses within the county.

By securing this grant, Senator Brown underscores his commitment to supporting Ohio’s small businesses, particularly those in rural communities. This investment empowers local entrepreneurs, fostering economic opportunities and strengthening the fabric of Pike County.
