First Baptist Church of Ashville concluded their first annual Summer Learning Program by hosting a banquet for its inaugural class.  The students gathered every Tuesday and Thursday for six weeks and studied Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages under the tutelage of Pastor David Sells, who is also employed by Eastland-Fairfield as a GED Instructor.  During the six-week program, Pastor Sells learned he was recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Department of Higher Education for his work with students at Eastland-Fairfield.
The students were awarded for their participation in the Summer Learning Program with certificates of completion, backpacks filled with school supplies, Bibles, and an investment in their future in the form of a Silver Eagle collectible coin.  Pictured left to right are Teays Valley students Kaleb Schneelock, Reagan Cordle, Jaxson Rice, and instructor David Sells.
