AMANDA – Firefighters and emergency medical service workers know firsthand the power an AED has to save lives, that’s why volunteer departments are rolling out Field AED programs.

Amanda Township Fire Department reported that they have rolled out this program within the Village of Amanda that will allow for several volunteer firefighters who live in the village to have them at home. This allows for the volunteer to respond quicker to the scene of the situation and deploy the device and save more lives.

The department reported that they have also deployed this program in Madison Township bringing the total to 6 AEDs in that area for rapid response.

“This provides the opportunity for life-saving defibrillation during a cardiac arrest event to occur before the arrival of the ambulance. We will be assessing the program and hopefully deploying more AED’s to both townships with the ultimate goal of having defibrillation opportunity available within 5 minutes of our entire coverage area,” said Amanda Township Fire Department.
