PICKAWAY – Around 6:30 pm on Sunday a 911 call came into Pickaway county of a person who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to reports a person accidentally shot themselves while handling a gun in Salt Creek township. Due to this not being a criminal act we will not disclose the exact location.
Saltcreek fire on route requested a medical helicopter to the area. When they arrived they found the person shot with two entrance holes and one exit. They controlled the bleeding and reported that the person was awake and answering questions. They stabilized the victim and prepared them for flight.
The department set up a landing zone close to the home.
The person was flown to Grant medical center.
