CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department has released its daily media report detailing officer responses, arrests, and active investigations for Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Local authorities handled 16 reported incidents spanning traffic stops, domestic disputes, theft complaints, and warrant executions.

Key Arrests and Outstanding Warrants

  • Probation Violation Arrest: Officers served Stephanie Oney at the Ross County Jail with a capias warrant for a probation violation stemming from an original charge of child endangering. Oney is being held in lieu of bond and is scheduled to appear in court today, October 8, at 9:00 a.m.
  • Intoxication Arrest: Officers responded to Adams Avenue at approximately 6:45 p.m. regarding an individual experiencing an altered mental status. An arrest was made on scene for disorderly conduct involving public intoxication causing annoyance or alarm.

Domestic Violence and Active Investigations

  • Columbia Avenue Incident: Around 3:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to 233 Columbia Avenue for an active domestic disturbance. Callers reported that a male suspect had kicked in the back door and remained on the premises. The investigation remains ongoing.
  • Betty Lane Assault Complaint: Late Wednesday night, officers responded to 1275 Betty Lane at 11:25 p.m. following reports of a domestic violence incident involving physical harm. CPD officers are continuing their investigation.
  • Missing Juvenile: CPD received a report at 4:35 p.m. regarding a missing runaway juvenile from the 1500 block of North Hickory Street (159½ N. Hickory St.). The case remains open.
  • Additional Threats & Disruptions: Investigation continues into a disorderly conduct complaint involving threats made at 517 McKeller Street around 8:40 p.m., as well as an earlier complaint on Teatsworth Drive shortly after 10:00 a.m.

Property Crime, Theft, and Fraud Reports

  • Retail Theft at Walmart: Officers responded to the Walmart at 85 River Trace Lane at 9:41 p.m. to investigate a shoplifting complaint involving theft by deception.
  • Law Enforcement Center (LEC) Walk-In Reports: Multiple citizens filed reports directly at the police facility on Wednesday, including a theft complaint at 10:40 a.m., an identity fraud report at 1:36 p.m., and an unruly juvenile complaint in the department lobby at 6:32 p.m.

Traffic, Parking, and Miscellaneous Calls

  • Drug & Paraphernalia Response: Officers provided agency assistance at Lincoln Park around 10:28 p.m. regarding a potential drug and paraphernalia possession incident. Earlier in the evening, officers took a non-criminal report for suspected found narcotics on Toledo Street.
  • Traffic Violations: Officers initiated a traffic stop at Piatt Avenue and Huron Street at 8:11 a.m. for marked lane violations. Later at 4:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to 40½ N. Mulberry Street to issue a citation for illegal parking in a handicapped space.
  • Administrative Note: One report logged at 4:18 p.m. on East 2nd Street was canceled after being issued in error.
