ASHVILLE, Ohio — What began as an idea during the COVID-19 lockdowns has grown into an annual fall destination where families can enjoy flowers, fresh produce and the outdoors.
Scioto Sunflowers, located at 13832 State Route 104 in Ashville, is preparing to welcome visitors for another season of sunflower blooms, with this year’s flowers described by the farm as some of its most beautiful yet.
The idea for Scioto Sunflowers was born in 2020, during the height of stay-at-home orders and social distancing.
The goal was to create an outdoor experience where people could enjoy the beauty of nature while still gathering together in a setting that allowed for plenty of space.
The farm’s owners began transforming land that had previously been used for soybeans into a sunflower destination.
That first year, they tracked down specialty seed companies and planted 20 varieties of sunflowers, covering nearly seven acres.
In 2021, Scioto Sunflowers partnered with Fannin’s Farm Market to help with cultivation and planting while also bringing fresh, locally grown produce to the farm market.
Five years later, the sunflower farm continues to welcome visitors, with the season now focused primarily on the fall.
According to Scioto Sunflowers, the cooler weather and this year’s blooms are creating an ideal setting for fall family photos, homecoming pictures and visitors looking for a unique outdoor experience.
The farm describes the experience as a chance for visitors to step into a fairytale-like setting surrounded by sunflowers.
Included in the location are props and items that have been placed around the field for amazing graduation homecomming photos your kiddos will love on their social medias. Come before sunset and be prepared for the amazing sky ontop of hundreds of sunflowers.

- September 25-27
- October 2-4
- 10 a.m. until sunset
