CHILLICOTHE, OH — A Sunday disturbance call at McArthur Gardens ended in the arrest of a local woman after police found no evidence of a crime and uncovered illegal drug paraphernalia.
Chillicothe Police Officer Christopher Claytor responded to an apartment at 1049 Columbus Street on September 13, 2026, following a 911 report from resident Mary Gibson. Gibson had reported to dispatchers that a male was threatening her.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with neighbors, who stated that no disturbance had taken place. When questioned by officers, Gibson claimed that people were “shooting in the hallway.” However, officers searched the area and observed no evidence of any gunshots or criminal activity.
When Officer Althouse began putting on gloves to evaluate the situation, Gibson refused to cooperate, said “no,” and turned to walk back into her apartment.
Officer Claytor grabbed Gibson’s arm to place her under arrest, triggering a physical struggle. Police reported that Gibson immediately began pulling away, twisting her body, and screaming for officers to let her go. A second officer stepped in to secure her other arm, and after a brief struggle, officers managed to place her in handcuffs.
Inside the apartment, officers also questioned a second resident, identified as Teresa Cutlip, who appeared confused and stated she did not know if any gunshots had been fired.
During a search incident to arrest, Officer Brayden Woodbridge and Officer Lee located a glass pipe commonly used to ingest methamphetamine, along with a small baggie containing an unknown substance, inside Gibson’s back pockets. The items were seized and logged into evidence.
Gibson was transported to the Ross County Jail, where she was booked on charges of:
- Misuse of 911
- Resisting arrest
- Obstructing official business
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Gibson was issued a court date for Monday, September 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Chillicothe Municipal Court.
