DARBY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is launching an investigation after a dead body was discovered late Thursday evening in the northwestern portion of the county.
Deputies responded to the rural area near Buzzard Road and Ballah Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. following reports of a deceased individual at the scene.
According to early reports from dispatchers, sheriff’s deputies arrived quickly, secured the perimeter, and currently have the situation under control. Detectives and crime scene investigators are expected to remain on-site well into the night.
Details Limited; Public Urged to Avoid Area
At this time, authorities have not released any information regarding the identity or gender of the deceased person. Investigators note that it is currently unknown how the individual died or what circumstances led to the body being found in that area.
Because this is an active crime scene, the Sheriff’s Office is asking the public and motorists to completely avoid the area of Ballah Road and Buzzard Road to allow emergency vehicles and investigators room to work.
