
CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department handled a wide array of calls on Friday, April 24, ranging from drug arrests and fraud investigations to an Orbeez gun incident involving juveniles. Below are the highlights from the daily media report.
Arrests & Warrants
- Drug Arrest at McDonald’s: Officers responded to a welfare check at the McDonald’s on N. Bridge St. at 4:28 PM. The encounter led to an arrest for Possession of Drugs and Drug Abuse Instruments.
- Warrant Execution: At 10:33 AM, officers apprehended Cassie Moss in the 100 block of S. Paint St. on an active warrant. She was transported to the Ross County Jail.
- Juvenile Orbeez Incident: Police were called to E. 5th St. at 6:32 PM after a young child was reportedly shot with an “Orbeez” gun by two juveniles on a scooter. Both juveniles were arrested on charges of Discharging Firearms and Underage Offenses.
Theft & Fraud Investigations
- Bad Checks: Bridgeport Equipment and Tools contacted the department at 9:44 AM regarding a “passing bad checks” complaint and a theft without consent. An investigation has been launched.
- Bank Fraud: Officers were dispatched to Kingston National Bank on Western Ave at 3:26 PM to investigate a fraud report.
- General Theft: Reports of theft were taken on Chestnut St. (11:24 AM) and via a traffic stop on N. Sugar St. (11:48 AM) where a warrant was also discovered.
Traffic & Accidents
- Alley Collision: A two-vehicle crash occurred in an alley behind E. Water St. at 4:29 PM. One driver was cited for failing to “stop and sound horn” at an alley intersection before colliding with another vehicle.
- Wrong-Way Driver: While en route to a call at 2:43 PM, a Captain observed a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of E. Main Street. The vehicle was subsequently involved in a non-injury crash.
- Illegal Parking: A complaint was filed at 7:29 AM regarding a vehicle blocking a public or private drive on Locust St.
Miscellaneous Calls
- Possible Drowning: Emergency crews responded to Governor’s Place on Constitution Dr. at 4:55 PM regarding a possible drowning incident. The report was classified as non-criminal.
- Dog Bite: A dog bite was reported at 3:51 PM on Burbridge St., resulting in an investigation into the registration of a dangerous dog.
- Found Property: An employee at the McDonald’s on E. Main St. found a black purse in the restroom late Friday night. The purse contained a California ID belonging to a Mitchell Ferguson, along with various personal items and sealed marijuana packages. It has been secured in the LEC property room.
- Disorderly Conduct: Officers were dispatched to Mary Lou Patton Park on Toledo St. at 7:33 PM to handle a disorderly conduct complaint.
