LANCASTER, Ohio — One of America’s most recognizable promotional vehicles is rolling into Fairfield County this week.
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is scheduled to visit AHA! A Hands-On Adventure Children’s Museum on Friday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The 27-foot-long, hot dog-shaped vehicle will be parked outside the museum, giving families and visitors a chance to take photos and meet the “Hotdoggers,” the brand ambassadors who travel with the Wienermobile. Guests can also receive themed giveaways, including whistles, stickers, and postcards.
A Rolling Piece of Americana
The Wienermobile has been a staple of American marketing since 1936, when it was first created by Carl Mayer, the nephew of Oscar Mayer. Originally designed as a way to promote Oscar Mayer products during the Great Depression, the vehicle has undergone several redesigns over the decades while maintaining its signature hot dog shape.
Today’s version stretches nearly 30 feet long and travels across the country year-round, making appearances at community events, parades, and festivals.
Continuing Its Ohio Tour
Before arriving in Lancaster, the Wienermobile made a stop in Columbus at the Ronald McDonald House. After its visit to AHA!, it will continue on to Granville for the Taste of Granville event.
The visit is expected to draw families, car enthusiasts, and anyone eager to see the iconic vehicle up close as it continues its tour through central Ohio.
