Accidents and Traffic Chaos
Traffic safety was a major focus throughout the afternoon. At 12:38 PM, units responded to an injury accident on US 23, coinciding with a period of heavy regional emergency activity. Later, at 3:27 PM, another injury crash on W. High Street resulted in a formal citation being issued.
By 6:30 PM, officers were called to W. Main Street for a “Hit-Skip” (hit-and-run) accident. While no injuries were reported in that specific collision, police have taken a report and are investigating.
Crimes Against Property and People
The evening hours brought a surge in criminal reports across the city:
- Burglary: At 8:54 PM, officers responded to Elm Avenue, where a burglary report was officially taken.
- Dog Bite: Earlier in the afternoon, a report was filed regarding a dog bite incident on Butternut Avenue at 4:47 PM.
- Trespassing: Two separate trespassing reports were filed—one on Maplewood Avenue and a second late-night incident on E. Main Street at 11:35 PM.
- Theft & Harassment: A “theft in progress” was reported on Logan Street, though the suspects fled before police arrived. Later, a harassment and threats report was taken on Sunset Drive.
Well-Being and Medical Responses
Police conducted nearly a dozen well-being checks throughout Wednesday. While many residents were found to be safe, a check on N. Court Street at 5:29 PM resulted in an individual being transported to the hospital by emergency squad.

The night shift remained active with “Extra Patrols” conducted on Imperial Court, Pontious Road, and US 23 South, all of which were cleared as secure. Officers also handled two vehicle repossessions (on Stihl Ave and Lincoln Ave) and recovered “Found Property” on Nicholas Drive.
At 7:35 PM, police attempted to locate a dirt bike/ATV complaint on US 23, but the riders had left the area before contact could be made.
