COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio is doubling down on its commitment to family stability. Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel today announced a major new partnership between the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) and All Pro Dad, a national fatherhood program founded by the nonprofit Family First.
The initiative is designed to provide Ohio fathers with the tools, community connections, and encouragement they need to remain an active and consistent presence in their children’s lives.
The “Coach” Perspective
The partnership carries a heavy dose of leadership experience. Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, the former Ohio State head coach, emphasized that fatherhood is the ultimate “fundamentals” game.
“Fatherhood is one of the most important leadership roles we’ll ever have,” said Lt. Gov. Tressel. “When dads are present, they help shape a child’s future. This partnership gives more dads the tools they need to strengthen those fundamentals at home.”
NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy, co-founder of All Pro Dad, echoed that sentiment: “Fatherhood isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being present.”
“Win the Everyday” Campaign
As part of the launch, the state has debuted a new media campaign titled “Win the Everyday.” Starting this month, fathers across Ohio will see ads on social media, digital platforms, and outdoor signage offering practical inspiration and resources.
Key program expansions include:
- School Chapters: Growing the All Pro Dad School Chapter Program beyond its current 30 locations in Ohio.
- The “Experience” Event: A massive interactive event for fathers and children scheduled for June 15, 2026, at The Ohio State University’s Woody Hayes Athletic Center, just ahead of Father’s Day.
A Proven Investment
Research cited by the Governor’s office shows that children with involved fathers are statistically more likely to succeed in school, avoid the justice system, and have better long-term health.
The initiative was made possible through the state’s operating budget, led by Senate President Rob McColley. “As a dad to twin boys and a daughter, I know the important role fathers play,” McColley said. “The Responsible Fatherhood Initiative is one of the smartest investments we can make for the future of Ohio.”
