CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department stayed active through the early hours of Wednesday morning following a Tuesday filled with high-speed pursuits, vehicle thefts, and unusual traffic violations. According to the CPD Daily Media Report for March 10, 2026, officers handled 15 primary incidents ranging from felony warrant arrests to street racing.

🏍️ High-Speed Defiance and Stolen Vehicles

The day began with a high-stakes encounter at 1:35 a.m. when an officer attempted to pull over a motorcycle. The rider allegedly refused to stop, leading to a charge of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a P.O. Later that afternoon, at 1:41 p.m., another motorcyclist was cited on East Main Street for operating without a motorcycle endorsement.

The city’s “flock” of technology was put to use at 5:24 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the area of South Bridge and 8th Street. A stolen vehicle had “pinged” the system while traveling southbound. Officers are currently investigating charges of Receiving Stolen Property in connection with that vehicle.

🏎️ “Smoke and Mirrors” at Lowe’s

In one of the more cinematic calls of the day, an officer on patrol near the North Bridge Street Lowe’s observed a white BMW performing “burnouts” and drifting in the parking lot at 7:21 p.m.

The officer reported a “large amount of white smoke” emitting from the vehicle. Upon being pulled over, the driver, identified as Petro Karpovets, reportedly asked for a warning for the drifting. Officers noted the tires were still “warm to the touch” from the burning rubber.

đźš” Crime and Public Safety

  • Thefts and Fraud: Police handled multiple theft reports throughout the day, including a motor vehicle theft and identity fraud case reported at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) at 7:20 p.m. Another larceny was reported earlier in the day on Enderlin Circle.
  • Trespassing and Unresponsive Female: Officers were dispatched to East Main Street twice for trespassing. The second call, occurring late at 11:38 p.m. at the Pilot travel center, involved an “unresponsive female” on the premises.
  • Warrant Arrest: A successful warrant arrest was executed at 5:04 a.m. on South Paint Street.
  • Accident at Frisch’s: Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident at the Frisch’s Big Boy on North Bridge Street at 3:47 p.m. involving a “marked/continuous lines” violation.

📞 Property and Harassment

Not all calls resulted in charges. At 4:18 p.m., officers facilitated a property exchange on North Paint Street, leading the caller to drop potential theft charges. Later in the evening, an officer was flagged down on East Main Street to investigate a complaint of Telecommunications Harassment.
