Chillicothe Police Investigate Violent Crimes Including Kidnapping and Multiple Sexual Assaults

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a series of high-level felony complaints on Friday, March 6, including reports of kidnapping, felonious assault, and multiple sexual offenses.

Kidnapping and Violent Assault Reports

Officers are currently investigating two separate reports involving kidnapping and serious physical harm:

  • S. Sugar Street: Early Friday morning, police were dispatched to the 34 S. Sugar St. area regarding a complaint of felonious assault resulting in serious harm and kidnapping.
  • Law Complex Report: Later that morning, a subject arrived at the Law Complex on N. Paint St. to formally file a report regarding a separate kidnapping incident.

Sexual Offenses and Juvenile Investigations

The department opened three major sex crime investigations during the shift:

  • Gross Sexual Imposition: Detectives were assigned to a case involving a victim under the age of 13.
  • Adams Avenue Rape: Officers responded to Old Eastern Avenue regarding a juvenile complaint of rape that allegedly occurred at 825 Adams Ave..
  • IHOP Assault: Late Friday night, police were called to the IHOP on Consumer Center Drive for an assault report that was subsequently classified as rape involving force or threat.

Traffic and OVI Incidents

Roadway safety issues led to several citations and arrests throughout the day:

  • Welfare Check & OVI: Officers conducted a welfare check at 1080 N. Bridge St. at 1:29 p.m., which resulted in an OVI investigation.
  • Cleveland Street Stop: An early morning traffic stop on Cleveland St. resulted in an arrest for drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant.
  • Traffic Violations: Citations were issued for a crash involving failure to yield at Delano Ave. and Arch St., an ACDA (Assured Clear Distance Ahead) collision on E. Main St., and a noise violation for squealing tires on N. Bridge St..+1

Theft and Disorderly Conduct

The department also managed several reports of property crime and public disturbances:

  • Shoplifting: A theft and criminal trespass report was filed at a business on River Trace Lane.
  • Carwash Disturbance: While in line at the Tsunami Express Carwash, an officer witnessed and responded to a disorderly customer.
  • Par Mar Theft: A theft was reported at the Par Mar/Amoco station at 61 N. Bridge St..
