
CIRCLEVILLE — Local law enforcement kept a high profile on Wednesday, March 4, responding to 34 calls for service that ranged from proactive neighborhood patrols to a series of fraud investigations and an early morning arrest.
Early Morning Arrest & Patrols
The day began with a series of “Extra Patrol” checks on Walnut St., E. Circle Ln., and N. Court St., all of which were cleared as “okay” by officers. However, the quiet morning was interrupted at 2:43 a.m. when officers responded to a 911 hang-up on E. High St. The incident resulted in an arrest, though the specific charges were not immediately released.
Earlier in the shift, a traffic stop on Town St. at 1:19 a.m. resulted in a citation, while two separate reports of suspicious vehicles on S. Court St. were investigated; one was gone upon arrival and the other required no formal report.
Surge in Fraud Reports
Detectives and officers handled a noticeable cluster of fraud complaints throughout the afternoon:
- 11:05 a.m.: A fraud report was taken on Gale Ct.
- 2:07 p.m.: Another formal report was filed following a call on E. Franklin St.
- 2:41 p.m.: A third fraud call on S. Court St. was cleared by officers.
Roadway Incidents
Traffic safety was a major focus, with several accidents requiring police intervention on E. Main St.:
- At 3:22 p.m., officers took a report for an accident involving injuries.
- Later in the evening, back-to-back non-injury accidents at 7:53 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. resulted in citations being issued to the drivers involved.
Other Notable Calls
- Assault: A formal report was taken for an assault on Pontious Ln. at 5:46 p.m.
- Neighbor Trouble: Police responded to a dispute on E. Union St. just after 2:00 p.m., though no report was filed.
- Warrant Service: Officers attempted to serve a warrant on N. Paint St. at 12:22 p.m.
The busy 24-hour period concluded with a final traffic stop on Lancaster Pike at 10:30 p.m., which ended in a warning.
