CHILLICOTHE — A routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning escalated into a prolonged struggle that left a Chillicothe man injured and two officers with minor injuries, according to police reports.

The incident occurred around 1:16 a.m. on Jan. 27 after Officer Justin Tuttle reported seeing a black Honda Pilot drift around corners on Main and Ewing streets, nearly striking a parked vehicle. Tuttle initiated a stop in a nearby parking lot.

Police say the driver, identified as Christopher James Radachi, immediately got out of the vehicle and began arguing with the officer. After refusing repeated commands to return to his car, Radachi re‑entered the driver’s seat, prompting Tuttle to detain him. Tuttle was able to secure one handcuff on Radachi’s left wrist before the man allegedly began resisting.

As the struggle continued, Officer Chance Blankenship arrived to assist. Blankenship reported hearing someone yell for help as he approached. He stated that Radachi was “chest‑to‑chest” with Tuttle and refusing commands. Officers attempted multiple takedowns as Radachi allegedly kept his hands beneath his body and continued resisting efforts to handcuff him.

During the altercation, officers used compliance strikes and an impact weapon after other attempts failed to gain control, according to the report. Radachi sustained a forehead laceration and was treated by the Chillicothe Fire Department before being transported to Adena Regional Medical Center.

Police say Radachi was later released from the hospital and taken to the Ross County Jail, where he was charged with resisting arrest. He was also cited for reckless operation on a public street. Officers reported minor injuries, including a cut thumb and torn clothing.

Radachi was advised of a court appearance scheduled for later that morning.
