LANCASTER, OH — Lancaster City Schools students, staff, and their families are making a significant impact this holiday season, completing more than 40 acts of giving to support community members in need while providing gifts and assistance to 29 local families.
District officials say the efforts reflect Lancaster City Schools’ commitment to the Caring component of its Portrait of a Graduate model, which emphasizes empathy, service, and a strong connection to the community.
“All five elementary schools, the Bridges and preschool program, both junior high schools, and ten clubs and classes at the high school — along with high school faculty — have met the needs of hundreds of people in our community and the organizations that support them,” Superintendent Nathan Hale said. “The pride I feel is indescribable, and the experience for all who participate is immeasurable.”
Many of the district’s schools and student groups partnered with local organizations, including the Salvation Army, Fairfield County 2-1-1, area churches, and local non-profits, reinforcing lessons in collaboration and community service.
Beyond collecting toys and food, students also volunteered their time at events such as Gift of Time, the Kiwanis Pancake Festival, Salvation Army Kettle Ringing, and Charity Newsies.
“From penny wars to trick-or-treating for UNICEF, our students have been actively raising funds to help others for months,” Hale said. “They have truly made a difference in the lives of many.”
