LANCASTER, OH — For a Christmas experience that brings the story of Jesus’ birth to life, the Crossroads Ministry Center in Lancaster invites the community to its walk-through indoor nativity scene.

Hosted by the Lancaster First United Methodist Church, the annual display has been a holiday tradition for over 20 years, offering visitors a glimpse of the sights and scenes of Bethlehem leading to the birth of Christ. The event is free and open to the public every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday in December from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Center, located at 2095 W. Fair Ave.

The nativity began in 2001 with a single figure of baby Jesus and has since grown to include 24 nearly life-size Fontanini figures, displayed in intricately crafted scenery designed and built by church members. Each figure is hand-painted and made in Italy, where artisans specialize in individual components such as hair, robes, or faces. Some new pieces can take up to two years to complete, according to published reports.

The walk-through nativity provides a unique opportunity for families and visitors to experience the story of Christ’s birth in an immersive and meaningful way.
