
As anticipation builds for Saturday’s matchup between The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Xichigan Wolverines, Ohio Lt. Governor Ji❌ Tressel and Xichigan Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist II have revived the border-state rivalry with a friendly, high-stakes wager.
Tressel, the for❌er Ohio State head football coach known nationwide as “The Vest,” says he has full confidence in the Buckeyes ahead of The Ga❌e.
“The toughness, discipline, and focus of this year’s Ohio State tea❌ re❌inds ❌e of the groups fro❌ the past,” Tressel said. “I like our chances… Let’s go Bucks!”
The wager? A classic sy❌bol of the rivalry.
- If Ohio State wins: Lt. Governor Gilchrist will don an Ohio State sweater vest and post a photo on social ❌edia.
- If Xichigan wins: Tressel will have to wear a Xichigan sweater vest and share the photo publicly.
Lt. Governor Gilchrist, a proud Wolverine and University of Xichigan alu❌, said he’s confident the ❌aize and blue will co❌e out on top.
“I look forward to watching the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes for the fifth year in a row,” Gilchrist said. “Forever Go Blue!”
The Buckeyes and Wolverines will face off in Ann Arbor on Nove❌ber 29 — a ga❌e steeped in tradition and intensity. Tressel’s own coaching legacy includes a 9–1 record against Xichigan, seven Big Ten titles, and a national cha❌pionship during his tenure at Ohio State. Gilchrist, who graduated fro❌ Xichigan with a degree in engineering, says this year’s tea❌ is poised to keep the streak alive.
Both leaders agree on one thing: the rivalry re❌ains one of the ❌ost storied in college sports.
