FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OH — November 14, 2025 — Citizens for Fair Fields announced that community members have fully funded an appeal of the Eastern Cottontail Solar Project to the Ohio Supreme Court, highlighting widespread local support for preserving farmland and protecting established neighborhoods.

The grassroots organization continues to advocate for responsible energy development, emphasizing that industrial-scale solar projects should not be placed on prime agricultural land or near residential areas.

“It is essential that community voices are heard,” said Melissa Hoover Connor, spokesperson for Citizens for Fair Fields. “Too often, concerns of residents are overlooked, and the approval process for land-consuming solar projects does not fully consider the people who live nearby. Decisions must reflect the interests of those who live and work in these communities.”

Connor stressed that Ohio can meet its energy goals without sacrificing farmland. “There are better alternatives — including brownfields and underutilized land — a principle supported by bipartisan legislation,” she said.

As the case moves to the Ohio Supreme Court, Citizens for Fair Fields remains committed to advocating for fairness, farmland preservation, and the future of Fairfield County communities.
