A routine traffic stop in Chillicothe Wednesday morning resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the discovery of multiple controlled substances.

Officers from the Chillicothe Police Department pulled over a Chevrolet sedan on Washington Avenue after the driver, identified as David Brown II, failed to signal a turn. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered two bongs inside the car and conducted a search of Brown’s person. Three plastic baggies containing marijuana, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and used drug paraphernalia were found. Brown was released with a warning for the traffic violation, though the narcotics were sent to a lab for potential future charges.

The traffic stop also involved two passengers: Brittany Hayes and Angela Auten. During a search of the vehicle, officers found additional drug paraphernalia, including burnt foil, straws, and a glass pipe. Hayes was discovered to have an active warrant through the Ross County Sheriff’s Office for permitting drug use, while Auten was found with further paraphernalia in her purse.

Both women were transported to the Ross County Jail, where additional contraband (Crack and Fentanyl) was recovered after a body cavity search. Hayes was booked on her warrant, and Auten was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. All seized items have been photographed and submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) for testing.
