Circleville, OH — November 4, 2025

The Logan Elm Local School District’s 1% earned income tax levy passed by a slim margin Tuesday, reflecting the longstanding voting divide between Pickaway and Hocking counties.

According to unofficial results:

  • Pickaway County voters supported the levy, with 1,618 votes in favor (63.88%) and 915 votes against (36.12%).
  • Hocking County voters, however, opposed the measure, giving it only 297 votes in favor (39.23%) against 460 votes against (60.77%).

Despite the split, the levy cleared the majority needed for approval at 1915/1375

Key Facts About the Levy

  • This is not a new tax. Residents have been paying the 1% earned income tax since 2005.
  • Voting for the levy will not increase taxes.
  • The levy replaces the expiring emergency property tax levy, which the Board of Education allowed to lapse at the end of 2025.
  • It applies only to earned income, excluding retirement income, interest, dividends, and capital gains.

The passage ensures continued funding for Logan Elm schools without raising the overall tax burden on residents.
