CHILLICOTHE, OH — A man is facing a possible felonious assault charge after police say he tried to run over two employees with his vehicle outside the IHOP restaurant on Consumer Center Drive early Sunday morning.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were called to the restaurant around midnight on October 12 after reports of a disorderly person. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female, who told police her ex-boyfriend, Eric Hawk, had shown up at her workplace intoxicated and refused to leave despite being told multiple times to do so.
Witnesses, including night manager and an employee, told officers that when they confronted Hawk about leaving, he began yelling at them. Moments later, he allegedly put his vehicle into drive and accelerated toward them, forcing both women to take cover behind a pillar to avoid being struck.
Investigators noted tire marks and damage to a pillar in front of the restaurant and reviewed security video that reportedly showed Hawk’s vehicle lunging forward toward the women, hitting the pillar, then reversing quickly before leaving the scene.
Police say they plan to request a warrant for felonious assault in connection with the incident.
