ASHVILLE, OH — It was a big night for school spirit and friendly competition as the Teays Valley High School Freshmen took home the championship title in the school’s first-ever Powder Puff football tournament, defeating the Seniors in the final matchup 22–14.

The event, held on October 8, 2025, followed the annual Homecoming Parade and brought students, families, and community members together for an evening of fun and Viking pride at Viking Stadium.

This year’s homecoming festival featured food trucks, student performances, and speeches from the Pumpkin Show Queen candidates. The Powder Puff tournament — a highlight of the festivities — included three games: Juniors vs. Seniors, Freshmen vs. Sophomores, and the final showdown between the two winning teams.

In an exciting finale, the Freshmen pulled off an impressive upset over the Seniors, clinching the inaugural title and plenty of bragging rights heading into the rest of the school year.

The parade kicked off earlier that evening from the Teays Valley High School south campus lot at 6 p.m., winding through town before ending at Viking Stadium, where fans packed the stands to cheer on their classmates.

Organizers say the event will now become an annual Homecoming tradition celebrating Viking pride and community spirit.
