CIRCLEVILLE — City leaders are inviting residents to help shape the future of Barthelmas Park during two public town hall meetings scheduled for Wednesday, October 8.

The first session will be held at Barthelmas Park, 830 Kingston Pike, from 2–4 p.m., with a second meeting later that evening at City Hall, 127 S. Court Street, from 6–8 p.m. Attendees will have the chance to review preliminary plans, ask questions, and share feedback on the park’s proposed expansion.

The city purchased 22 additional acres for the park in 2019 with the help of a $300,000 grant. Since then, the land has remained undeveloped, though Circleville Council first presented a vision for its future in 2023.

That concept plan outlined:

  • Four additional softball fields
  • A central concession and restroom facility
  • Expanded parking along Kingston Pike
  • A shelter house
  • A gazebo and pond with a surrounding walking trail

Currently, Barthelmas Park features two permanent bathrooms, two shelter houses, two concession areas, five baseball diamonds, a playground, and several soccer fields. The newest round of discussions may also include the possibility of adding a pool.

“This project will only succeed if it reflects the needs and wishes of our community,” said City Planner Hannah Wynne, who encourages residents to attend.

For those unable to attend in person, feedback can be shared directly with Wynne via email at [email protected].
