HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — A routine traffic stop in Hocking County led to a major drug bust after deputies discovered nearly a quarter pound of suspected methamphetamine, along with cash and a loaded gun.

On Wednesday, August 20, deputies with the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver, identified as Brady Davies, 33, of New Lexington, consented to a search, during which deputies found methamphetamine in his pants pocket, according to Sheriff Lanny North.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up approximately 115 grams of suspected methamphetamine, $6,259 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun. The drugs have been sent to a lab for confirmation.

Davies was arrested and booked into the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. He faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated drug trafficking, aggravated drug possession, and weapons violations, in addition to misdemeanor paraphernalia and traffic offenses.

The Hocking County Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit, the South Central Major Crimes Unit, and the Logan Police Department assisted in the investigation. The case will be reviewed by the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office for potential additional charges.
