CHILLICOTHE — A motorcycle crash on East Second Street left two men injured and facing citations Saturday night, according to Chillicothe police.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. on August 16 near Mosher Drive. Officers said 48-year-old Richard Hughes was attempting to cross East Second Street when he stepped into the roadway without looking and was struck by a motorcycle driven by 38-year-old Joshua Buckner.
Both men were thrown to the ground and suffered injuries. Hughes told officers at the scene he believed he had broken his leg, while Buckner was bleeding from the head. Both were transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police said Buckner’s motorcycle, which had recently been purchased but not yet titled in his name, struck a parked vehicle during the crash. The owner of the vehicle was not injured.
Officers later determined Buckner was driving under suspension and without a valid motorcycle endorsement. He was cited for driving under suspension and operating without a proper license. Hughes was also cited for entering the roadway as a pedestrian.
Both men are scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court on August 22.
The motorcycle was towed from the scene, and the crash remains under review.
