Chillicothe Police Respond to Multiple Incidents in Busy 24-Hour Period

CHILLICOTHE, OH – August 9, 2025 — Chillicothe police officers were kept busy Friday with a wide range of calls, including drug-related arrests, thefts, warrants, and traffic stops, according to the department’s daily media report.

The day began at 1:22 a.m. when officers conducted a traffic stop on Renick Avenue, leading to an arrest for OVI and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. Just over an hour later, at 2:28 a.m., police made contact with a person on North Bridge Street who was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

At 4:14 a.m., officers responded to Wetzel Drive, where a semi-truck became stuck on a local street not designated for oversized vehicles. The driver was cited.

Later that morning, police were dispatched to Calvary Lutheran Church on West Main Street for a reported vandalism and theft. The case remains under investigation. Officers also conducted welfare checks on East 4th Street and North Paint Street in separate non-criminal incidents.

A second warrant arrest occurred on South Rose Street at 10:38 a.m., followed minutes later by a theft-from-vehicle complaint on North Brownell Street involving the misuse of a credit card.

Traffic enforcement continued throughout the day, with stops on South Paint Street, West Main Street, and North Paint Street for various moving violations, including driving without a motorcycle endorsement and crossing marked lanes.

In the afternoon, officers served a drug-related search warrant at a Deerpath residence. Details of the search were not released. At 5:09 p.m., police responded to a report of a terroristic threat at The Dock at Water.

Later, Walmart security at River Trace Lane reported a shoplifting involving a man and a woman. Both were arrested on theft charges.

Other calls included a crash investigation on North Paint Street, another OVI investigation following a welfare check at Smoker Friendly in Central Center, and several disorderly conduct and threats complaints.

Police recorded a total of 18 incidents in the 24-hour span, ranging from serious felony cases to routine traffic stops. Many of the investigations remain ongoing.
