CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (August 2, 2025) — A routine traffic stop in downtown Chillicothe turned into a drug investigation Saturday night after officers discovered drug paraphernalia and a suspected controlled substance — including inside a child’s car seat.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., Officer Jon Campbell observed a black Jeep traveling westbound on East Second Street with no license plate light and a broken taillight. The vehicle was stopped near the intersection with North Bridge Street.
The driver, identified as Allaya Bullock of Ohio, appeared visibly nervous, prompting officers to ask her to exit the vehicle. Bullock stated she had just picked up a male passenger from 61 N. Bridge Street and was driving him to the Executive Inn.
Upon receiving consent to search the vehicle, officers found an open alcoholic container in the hands of a backseat passenger. All three occupants — identified as Allaya Bullock, Matthew Hurles, and John Gunter — were asked to exit the Jeep.
During the search, officers located multiple cut straws, rolled-up dollar bills with white residue, and small plastic baggies containing similar residue in various areas of the vehicle — including under both front seats and the glove compartment. A particularly alarming discovery was made in the backseat: a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance was found inside the cup holder of a child’s car seat.
Officers also found a black purse inside the car seat, which contained Bullock’s social security card and another baggie with a white substance believed to be cocaine.
All three individuals were read their Miranda rights and taken into custody on charges of drug paraphernalia. While initially denying recent drug use, Bullock later admitted to jail staff that she was under the influence of cocaine.
The suspected cocaine and all paraphernalia were collected and will be submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) for testing. Additional charges related to drug possession may be filed pending lab results.
