Chillicothe – A woman’s behavior with stolen items got her charged twice for the same stolen item.

Chillicothe Police were dispatched to the store around 8:52 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, following a reported theft. Upon arrival, Officers with Walmart asset protection, who reported that Rhonda Goheen had failed to scan multiple items during checkout and concealed another beneath a poncho.

Surveillance footage showed Goheen skipping scans for puppy training pads valued at $50, and a bucket of Algae Guard worth $11.77. She also allegedly hid a $34.96 box of Nexstar flea treatment for dogs under a poncho, scanning only the poncho and placing the Nexstar into a bag without paying for it.

Security further explained that Goheen exited the store to her vehicle, then returned with the unpaid items—except for the Nexstar. When confronted, Goheen claimed she did not have the item and voluntarily allowed officers to search her vehicle, where the product was not found. Rhonda was issued a summons for Theft and signed and was provided a copy, she was then released.

However, upon further camera review, Officer Lott and security observed Goheen placing the box of Nexstar underneath a vehicle parked in the stall next to hers. Later in the footage, her daughter is seen moving their vehicle, and after the neighboring vehicle drives away, the Nexstar is visible on the ground—along with a $9.44 container of Clorox Pool Smart Strips. Due to her alleged attempt to hide stolen merchandise and mislead officers, Goheen will also face an additional charge of obstructing official business.

Police recovered both items at the scene.

In total, Goheen is accused of attempting to steal four items valued at $106.17. In addition, she was informed that she is now barred from all Walmart and Murphy USA Gas Station locations.

The investigation is ongoing.
