COLUMBUS, OH — In response to the devastating flooding along the Guadalupe River in Texas over the July 4th weekend, Governor Mike DeWine has deployed personnel from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to assist in search, rescue, and recovery operations.

A group of 20 OSHP troopers from the Mobile Field Force departed Ohio this week and are en route to Texas, where they will support local emergency crews responding to the disaster. The troopers are expected to remain on-site for approximately one week.

“Our hearts go out to everyone in Texas who is suffering through such an unthinkable tragedy,” said Governor DeWine. “By sending in our teams from Ohio, we can support recovery work and give some relief to the Texas first responders who’ve been working nearly nonstop for several days straight.”

Governor DeWine made the decision to activate Ohio’s Mobile Field Force following a phone call with Texas Governor Greg Abbott over the weekend to offer assistance.

In addition to OSHP troopers, ODNR is sending a team of four natural resources officers and four specially trained K-9 units, skilled in search, rescue, and recovery operations. Their deployment is part of Ohio’s commitment to helping communities in crisis, even beyond state borders.

The mission underscores a strong sense of national unity and collaboration during times of emergency.
