WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Del Monte Foods Corporation II Inc., a leading producer of premium branded food products, announced on July 1, 2025, that it has filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey to facilitate a strategic sale and financial restructuring aimed at maximizing value for stakeholders.

The company has entered into a Restructuring Support Agreement (RSA) with key lenders holding its term loan debt. The agreement outlines a court-supervised sale process for all or most of Del Monte’s assets, designed to secure the highest or best offer. “This is a strategic step forward for Del Monte Foods,” said President and CEO Greg Longstreet. “A court-supervised sale process is the most effective way to accelerate our turnaround and create a stronger, enduring Del Monte Foods with an improved capital structure and new ownership.”

To ensure operational continuity during the sale process, Del Monte has secured $912.5 million in debtor-in-possession financing, including $165 million in new funding, pending court approval. This, combined with cash from ongoing operations, will support the company’s current pack season and maintain its ability to deliver high-quality, nutritious food products without interruption. The company has also filed customary “first day” motions to continue business operations as usual, including serving customers and supporting employees, growers, and vendors.

Longstreet acknowledged challenges posed by a dynamic macroeconomic environment but emphasized the company’s nearly 140-year legacy of nourishing families. “We remain committed to our mission of expanding access to nutritious, great-tasting food for all,” he said, expressing gratitude to employees, partners, and lenders.

Non-U.S. subsidiaries are unaffected by the Chapter 11 proceedings and will continue normal operations. Additional details are available at https://cases.stretto.com/DelMonteFoods or by contacting Stretto at 833-228-5497 (or 714-263-3709 internationally).
