SOMERSET, KY – Hundreds of spectators were left in awe on Saturday, June 28, 2025, as stunt driver Raymond Kohn piloted a replica of the iconic General Lee from “The Dukes of Hazzard” over a fountain in Somerset’s Fountain Square. Locals estimate over 3,500 people gathered to witness the daring 150-foot jump, a highlight of the 25th annual Somernites Cruise festival, dubbed Kentucky’s official car cruise capital.

The stunt featured a 1969 Dodge Charger replica barreling off a ramp, splashing through the fountain’s bright blue water, and landing—albeit with a rough touchdown—on the other side. The bumpy landing echoed the wear and tear on the original General Lee, with estimates suggesting up to 300 orange Chargers were wrecked during the show’s seven-season run from 1979 to 1985, which included 147 episodes and consistently ranked among the top-rated action-comedy series.

Kohn emerged unscathed despite the vehicle’s bumps and bruises, thrilling the massive crowd. The event also offered festival-goers a chance to meet and get autographs from “Dukes of Hazzard” stars, including John Schneider, who portrayed Bo Duke. The jump, part of the Somernites Cruise’s celebration, showcased the enduring legacy of the show’s high-flying stunts, drawing thousands to Somerset for the spectacle.
