
COLUMBUS, OH – May 14, 2025 – The Kroger Columbus Division has announced a major investment of more than $64 million into central and northwest Ohio for 2025, aimed at expanding and enhancing its grocery store footprint. The investment includes the construction of a new store in Powell, renovations to 18 existing locations – including stores in Circleville and Lancaster – and groundbreaking for a new Delaware store.
“This year’s investment shines a bright light on the commitment Kroger makes to the customers and communities in which we serve – from local families to Kroger associates to Ohio companies and beyond,” said Jon Young, President of Kroger’s Columbus Division.
📍 New Powell Store Coming in Late 2025
A $36 million, 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace will open at Sawmill Parkway and Home Road in Powell by the end of 2025. The store will include:
- Expanded produce, deli, bakery, meat, seafood, and sushi sections
- A Murray’s Cheese Shop
- A fuel center
- Modern layouts to enhance the customer shopping experience
This will be the second brand-new store added to the division since 2024.
🔨 Renovations Coming to 18 Stores
As part of the $64 million investment, approximately $28 million will go toward remodeling 18 stores throughout the division. Locations receiving updates include:
- Circleville
- Lancaster
- Columbus
- Toledo
- Findlay
- Upper Arlington
- Waverly
- St. Clairsville
- Bowling Green
- Hilliard
- Sylvania
- Steubenville
- Mt. Gilead

🏗️ New Delaware Store Breaking Ground in 2025
Kroger will also break ground this summer on a new marketplace store at Glenn Road and Sunbury Road in Delaware, with a projected $33 million investment. Set to open in 2026, this store will include a fuel center and bring more grocery options to the growing Delaware area.
