HILLSBORO, OH – May 6, 2025 — Local powder coating specialist Cole’s Coatings LLC is growing its footprint in Highland County with a $70,000 investment to renovate a newly acquired facility in Hillsboro, thanks in part to support from JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and the Highland County Economic Development office.
Founded in 2021 by Cole Garlesky, Cole’s Coatings has built a reputation for high-quality powder coating services and Cerakote-certified finishes for firearms and automotive parts. The business serves both individuals and manufacturers in Highland County and surrounding areas.
“This expansion represents more than just a new building—it’s the result of years of hard work, long hours, and determination,” said Garlesky. “With the support of our community and partners like JobsOhio and OhioSE, we’re excited to grow in Highland County and continue delivering the quality our customers expect.”

The company’s expansion includes the purchase and renovation of a 6,200-square-foot metal building, formerly a laser tag venue, that will be customized to support the company’s powder coating operations. The upgrade will enable Cole’s Coatings to expand into industrial markets while maintaining its niche in custom finishing.
The project is backed by a $25,000 JobsOhio Small Business Grant, which supports the growth of businesses in underserved areas or those owned by eligible populations such as veterans, women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities.
“Cole Garlesky is the very definition of an entrepreneur,” said Julie Bolender, Director of Highland County Economic Development. “His talent and determination, paired with this access to capital, position him to grow both his business and our community.”
Matt Abbott, President and CEO of OhioSE, added, “Local companies like Cole’s Coatings demonstrate that entrepreneurship is alive and well in southeastern Ohio. This investment is proof that targeted support can make a meaningful difference in rural economies.”
