GROVE CITY, OH — Students at Grove City Nazarene School got a unique and up-close look at the working world Friday morning during the school’s “Tools of the Trade” event held on campus along Hoover Road.

Around 450 students participated in the two-hour educational event, where they had the chance to explore a wide variety of professional vehicles and specialized equipment used across numerous industries. From emergency response units to utility and construction gear, the event aimed to showcase the real-world tools that keep communities running.

Men and women representing a broad range of careers were on hand to explain how they use these tools in their day-to-day jobs, giving students valuable insight into potential future professions. The hands-on experience proved to be not only informative but also inspiring for the young learners. The Ohio State Highway Patrol flew in a helicopter for the event, local Pickaway County Scioto Valley Wrecker service brought a heavy wrecker to the event, local farmers, Igel Construction company, AEP, Swaco, and the local food bank were on scene.

Organizers say the goal of the event was to help students connect the dots between classroom learning and real-world applications — and maybe even spark interest in a career path they hadn’t considered.
