Ross County Man in Serious Condition After High-Speed Motorcycle Crash

Chillicothe – The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an injury crash that occurred on US50 near milepost 21, in Scioto Township, Ross County, Ohio involving a motorcycle.


On May 1, 2021, at approximately 9:45 P.M., a 2010 Harley-Davidson Sportster, operated by Chase Rutherford, 34, of Chillicothe, Ohio was traveling southeast on US 50 as it negotiated a curve. Mr. Rutherford lost control of the motorcycle, slid off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.


Mr. Rutherford was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported by Scioto Township EMS to Adena Regional Medical Center. He was later flown to Grant Medical Center in serious condition.


The Scioto Township Fire Department & EMS, and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.


Speed appears to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation.
