Dorothy F. Marshall

Dorothy Fay (Cook) Marshall, 92, of South Bloomfield, was taken to her Heavenly Home by her Guardian Angel on July 20, 2015.

She was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Ashville, daughter of Roland and Mabel Brown Cook.

She started school in the newly constructed Ashville School in 1925. She spent all but her last two years of school there. She graduated in 1940 from Walnut Twp. School.

Shortly after graduation, she went to work at The Pickaway County News, a weekly newspaper of the Hinkles in Ashville.

She married Clarence A. Marshall on May 11, 1945, five days after he returned home from being overseas for three years with the Army’s 37th Division in the Philippines and Fiji Islands.

She started working at The Ashville Bank in 1972 when the newspaper stopped printing. She transferred to the Circleville Savings Bank in 1983 where she retired May 31, 1991, after wonderful memories.

Her husband passed away April 30, 1995, at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe after an extended illness. Also preceding her were her parents; brothers, Leslie and Lloyd Cook; sister, Patsy Williams; daughter-in-law, Georgia Marshall; sisters-in-law, Anne Cook, Velma Marshall and Dorothea Van Velzer; and brothers-in-law, Maynard Marshall, Ronald Williams, George Sipe and Bill Van Velzer.

She is survived by her sons, Terry of New Holland, Steven (Sandy) and Kevin (Kathy) of Circleville; grandchildren, Tara (Steve) Harrington, Todd (Deidre) Marshall, Brittany Marshall, Kacey (Ethen) Kramer, Katie (Tim) Willoughby and Kristine (Philip) Williams; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Taylor Harrington, Leanna Marshall, Kolt Kramer, Devin and Cooper Willoughby; great-great-grandchild, Sophia Wilson; sisters, Barbara (Gene) Marshall and Carol (Tom) Ramsay; sisters-in-law, Nancy Cook and Betty Sipe; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Donna Timmons; and special friends, Jim and Rhea Harber, who brought her many angel figurines that brightened her days.

A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Dorothy will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, Ashville. Burial will be at Harrison Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pickaway County Senior Center.
