HEAP summer assistance begins July 1

CIRCLEVILLE – The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) for summer assistance runs July 1 through Aug. 31 for residents age 60 and over or individuals with a documented medical condition.

Types of benefits include utility assistance and central air conditioning repair. The total benefit amount cannot exceed $250 for regulated customers (AEP and DP&L) or $300 for South Central Power clients.

For people age 60 and over, required documentation includes income for primary applicant and all household members 18 and older; Social Security numbers for primary applicant and all household members; current electric and gas bills; and proof of age for member age 60 or over, including state ID, birth certificate, passport, etc.

For individuals with a documented medical condition, required documentation includes income for primary applicant and all household members 18 and older; Social Security numbers for primary applicant and all household members; proof of medical condition documentation signed by a licensed physician or registered nurse practitioner; and current electric and gas bill.
