Charlotte May West, 91, went to meet her Lord and Savior on May 12, 2017.
She was born in Postville, Iowa, on May 9, 1926.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. and Kimberlee West; daughter, Amy J. West Strous; grandchildren, Nathan (Julie) West, Logan West, Trent Strous and Trisha (Rob) Cummings; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Ben, and Lena West. Charlotte is also survived by sisters-in-law, Garnet Poling West and Virginia Ortman West; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Dow Owen West; and her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Charles T. Grattidge of Laurelville. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Jane Ann and Duke Evans.
Charlotte was a long-time fifth grade teacher at Saltcreek Elementary School in the Logan Elm School District and loved every minute of it. She loved all her students as her own.
Charlotte loved to play the piano, card games and word games, and she was a voracious mystery reader.
Charlotte and Dow traveled many miles around the country with their RV in tow.
Charlotte loved her family more than anything, a gentle soul who will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, with Dr. Doyne Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
