Circleville Police Reports

May 5, 2017:

– Staff at Berger Hospital requested an officer due to two female subjects trying to register using false information. No report was taken.

– A caller reported two subjects wearing all black were attempting to break out the front window of Veterans Gourmet Corner, 1016 N. Court St. Officers were unable to locate the subjects, and the building checked OK.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm in the 300 block of Brown Street. The call was canceled per the alarm company.

– A resident in the 100 block of Logan Street reported a vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was later found in a field at the end of Williams Drive and returned to its registered owner.

– Officers performed a well-being check on West Water Street. A subject was advised not to return to the residence.

– A resident in the 100 block of Collins Court reported someone stole a flat screen TV off his back patio and requested extra patrol in the area.

– A resident in the 500 block of Tower Court reported someone had stolen car parts off her vehicle. A report was taken on theft.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm at Heritage Trading Post, 117 W. Main St. The scene checked OK.

– A caller reported a trailer parked at Watt and Washington streets made it difficult to see the stop sign at the intersection. The owner of the trailer was advised.

– An employee at Porter’s Coin Laundry, 1185 N. Court St., reported someone tried to break into the business. A report was taken on tampering with a coin machine.

– An employee at Holiday Inn Express reported some damage done to one of their rooms and some items missing. A report was taken.

– A resident on Villa Drive requested to speak with an officer regarding concerns about her juvenile daughter. Questions were answered, and no report was taken.

– Officers responded to a property damage accident at Nicholas Drive and Lancaster Pike.

– Officers assisted with a disabled vehicle on North Court Street.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm in the 500 block of Garden Parkway. The call was canceled per the alarm company.

– Officers responded to a property damage accident at South Pickaway and East Franklin streets.

– A caller in the 300 block of Pontious Lane reported a suspicious vehicle with a female taking pictures on her cell phone. Information was obtained, and extra patrol was requested.

– Officers responded to a property damage accident at Cargill, 309 W. Main St.

– A caller on Atwater Avenue reported she was arguing with her daughter in an alley, and the occupant of the nearby residence came out with an assault rifle and threatened to shoot them if they did not get off his property. Information was obtained.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm in the 100 block of West High Street. The scene checked OK.

– An employee at Berger Hospital reported a subject had discharged a firearm in his basement and received a gunshot wound to his left hand. A report was taken.

– A resident in the 100 block of West Water Street reported a subject with a protection order was banging on her front door. A report was taken on a domestic dispute.

– A caller in the 200 block of East Franklin Street reported a male subject had passed out on the steps and was now staggering down the street. The scene checked OK.

– A resident in the 100 block of West Mound Street reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers were unable to locate it.

– A caller advised the back gate of Sutherlands was left open and was concerned people might steal from the property. The gate was secured, and the scene checked OK.

– Officers performed a well-being check on Kingston Court. The subject checked OK.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm in the 500 block of Northfield Drive. The scene checked OK.

May 6, 2017:

– A caller on South Street reported his two brothers were trying to fight him. A report was taken on a domestic dispute.

– Officers responded to a parking complaint in the 400 block of East Union Street.

– A caller advised a known subject was in the roadway at Court and Main streets, spinning around and trying to stop traffic. Officers advised the subject had mental health issues and was walking to Berger Hospital.

– A caller reported a child custody issue on Edgewood Drive. Information was obtained.

– A caller advised a young male subject carrying a green garbage bag was walking along Walnut Creek Pike toward North Court Street and asking for help. The subject checked OK.

– A female flagged down a detective at Homeland Credit Union on U.S. Route 23 and reported a trespassing complaint. The scene checked OK, and the female was advised to call when the subject returned.

– Officers assisted the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office with a call regarding a domestic dispute and theft charges from Hocking County in the 100 block of West Main Street.

– Officers responded to an activated fire alarm in the 300 block of Walnut Creek Pike. It was determined to be accidental.

– A caller in the 200 block of West Ohio Street reported finding a tool box with a name on it in the alley between Elm Avenue and Scioto Street. Officers made contact with the rightful owner and determined it had been stolen, but the owner wasn’t aware of it yet. A report was taken on theft.

– A caller reported a male and female were seen going through the neighbor’s trash on Beaver Alley. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

– An officer marked out at Ohio Market with a known subject on an active warrant.

– A caller in the 500 block of East Franklin Street reported three juveniles playing basketball in the middle of the street, and when she tried to drive by them, one of the juveniles flipped her off. The juveniles were advised.

– A caller in the 200 block of North Washington Street reported a known subject had taken her credit card and used it to make purchases. A report was taken on theft.

– Officers responded to a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of East Mill Street. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

– An employee at Kroger on Lancaster Pike advised they had a shoplifter in custody. A report was taken, and the female will be receiving a summons by mail.

– A caller on West Water Street reported a male subject was calling her and making threats over the phone even though a protection order was in place. Information was obtained, and extra patrol was requested. The caller was advised to call police if the subject came to her property.

– A resident in the 100 block of Hayward Street reported a physical altercation between two people in the front yard. Officers determined it was mostly a verbal argument, and the scene checked OK.

– Officers responded to a parking complaint in the 100 block of Gale Court.

– A caller on Cedar Heights Road reported his wife was throwing his belongings outside and spitting on them. A report was taken on a domestic dispute.

– An employee at Tractor Supply on U.S. Route 23 reported sewer lines at the north end of the business were backing up into the building. The water department was advised and would handle the call.

– Officers responded to reports of a possible gas leak from a fireplace in the 200 block of Marshall Road. The fire department and Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office handled the scene.

– An employee at Kroger advised they had two juvenile shoplifters in custody. A report was taken.

– A caller reported a suspicious male walking up to homes and asking for a ride in the 400 block of South Pickaway Street. The subject could not be located.

– A caller reported a vehicle was squealing tires, circling the block and running over curbs in the 200 block of Watt Street. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

– A resident in the 700 block of South Court Street reported a known subject was threatening to come to the residence. A report was taken on menacing.

– A caller reported her vehicle hit the railroad tracks on South Court Street and tore up her brake line and damaged the bottom of her vehicle. Information was obtained.

– A caller advised she received a phone call from her daughter on Caroline Court stating her husband was hitting her. The officer requested medical services at the scene for a female due to injuries from a domestic dispute. A report was taken, and the male subject agreed to leave for the night. The female refused transport to the hospital.

– A caller advised a suspicious male wearing a safety vest and hauling a lot of luggage was talking from the Pickaway County Courthouse toward the Circleville Police Department and asking for a place to stay. The caller advised him of the hotels in the area, and the subject told her he did not like them. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

May 7, 2017:

– The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office advised of a caller reporting a domestic dispute in the 100 block of Watt Street. Officers determined there was no domestic dispute, but they took a report on disorderly conduct.

– A caller reported an active fight in the 200 block of Watt Street. Officers advised it was just horseplay. The scene checked OK.

– A resident in the 500 block of Edgewood Drive reported at least two juveniles were throwing tomatoes at his residence. Officers were unable to locate the juveniles.

– A caller reported someone threw a brick through the window in the 400 block of Half Avenue.

– A caller advised a suspicious male had walked into her son’s residence in the 100 block of York Street and was asked to leave due to appearing to be under the influence. He left and began walking around the neighborhood. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

– Officers responded to a property damage accident at North Pickaway and East Main streets.

– A caller requested a report regarding someone stealing his vehicle and wrecking it in the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. No report was taken by request, and the caller was advised regarding filing a false police report.

– An employee at Vision Source on North Court Street requested extra patrol for the business after hours and on the weekends due to juveniles riding scooters on the roof of the business. Information was obtained.

– Officers served a warrant on Michelle Gaines at the Pickaway County Jail.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm in the 200 block of Pontious Lane. The scene checked OK.

– A caller advised a female tried to deposit a check into the ATM at the Savings Bank, and it got stuck. The female was able to retrieve her check, and the machine placed itself out of service.

– A caller reported five or six male subjects standing outside arguing in the 700 block of Maplewood Avenue. A report was taken on disorderly conduct, and all subjects were advised to stay away from each other.

– A resident in the 800 block of Dartmouth Drive reported someone stole her wallet, and a male just came to her residence returning some of her property he had found. A report was taken on burglary.

– A resident in the 500 block of Willow Lane reported damage had been done to his vehicle. A report was taken on criminal damaging.

– Officers responded to a parking complaint in the 100 block of Villa Drive.

– A caller advised the mirror of her car struck a parked car on Pontious Lane at Barry Drive. No report was taken, and information was exchanged.

– A caller on Kingston Pike in the area of Hitler Road reported a woman was running in a field being chased by two males. The males got back into a car and were last seen heading toward Tarlton Road. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

– A caller in the 500 block of East Ohio Street reported she was being held hostage by her boyfriend, and there was a domestic dispute at the residence. Officers advised there was no domestic dispute but took a report on disorderly conduct. The subjects were advised of persisting.

– Matthew D. Griffith was arrested on a warrant in the 300 block of Brown Street.

– Hannah M. Karshner was arrested on a warrant in the area of Court and Main streets after 911 callers reported a road rage incident and two women fighting and chasing each other.

– A resident in the 500 block of East Franklin Street reported a computer had been stolen from his garage. A report was taken on theft.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm in the 900 block of South Washington Street. The scene checked OK.

– A caller in the 500 block of East Franklin Street reported their home had been burglarized. A report was taken.

– A caller advised of a possible drug transaction on East Franklin Street. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

– Officers performed a well-being check on a subject reportedly making suicidal threats on East Franklin Street. The subject checked OK.

– A caller advised a known subject was at a residence in the 100 block of Lewis Avenue and refusing to leave unless she was paid $50. No report was taken, and the scene checked OK.

– A caller advised a juvenile in an unspecified church’s youth group slipped a stool softener into a fellow church member’s drink. A report was taken.

– A 911 caller reported a disturbance at the Budget Host Inn on U.S. Route 23. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

– Officers responded to a property damage accident at Dairy Shed on Kingston Pike.

– A 911 caller reported a fight in the 200 block of North Washington Street involving four people. No weapons were reported. A report was taken.

– A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Island Road involving occupants of a vehicle the caller believed were under the influence of narcotics. Information was obtained.

– A resident on Half Avenue advised a jail inmate had used her address as his own, but he does not live there. Information was obtained.

– A caller in the 100 block of Pinckney Street requested assistance getting her cell phone out of a storm sewer. The item was retrieved.

– A caller from Speedway on Lancaster Pike reported a possible impaired driver in the area. The call was transferred to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
