Pearl Mae York, 88, of Grove City, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 2, 2017.

She was born Sept. 11, 1928, in South Bloomfield, to the late John and Sadie Roese.

Pearl graduated from Scioto Township High School in Commercial Point, where she was crowned the Circleville Pumpkin Show Queen in 1945. She later married Winfred York and traveled the world as a supportive military wife and loving mother of two sons.

Pearl was a charter member of the VFW post 7941, South Bloomfield. She was also a member of the Military Order of the Cootie #71. Pearl was an active volunteer for the VFW, visiting local hospitals and providing assistance to those in need.

Pearl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Pearl was preceded in death by her late husband, Winfred C. York; and her two brothers, Jack Roese Sr. and William Roese.

She is survived by her two sons, Mike (Lori) York of Grove City and Otis (Diane) York of Geneva, Illinois ; two grandchildren, Mike (Kim) York and Hollie (David) Seipel; six great-grandchildren, Lorin, Faith, Mike, Destinee, Makenna and Gavin; and brother, Albert (Jewell) Roese. She also leaves behind numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus St., Gove City, where funeral will follow at 3 p.m., Pastor Floyd Hubbell officiating. Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice, 6150 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213.
